What are RSS feeds?
RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) is a web format for delivering and receiving changing web content. It allows users to stay informed by easily having access to content from a chosen site. Meaning you don’t have to go to each individual site or subscribe to email newsletters.
RSS makes staying up to date easy as you constantly have the latest information at your finger tips. The feed is read by an RSS News Reader and then displayed in a manner that is quick and easy for you to read.
A feed contains a summary of content from a particular site and usually gives you the option of view the entire article if you require.
How do I subscribe to an RSS Feed?
To subscribe to an RSS Feed the first thing you need is a News Reader or Feed Reader. This is a small program that checks RSS feeds and displays the content so you can read and view any information that has been added to them. There are a couple of different versions of readers. Those that run through your web browser or those that can be downloaded and run on your computer. Browser-based news readers let you view an RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas a downloadable application will let you store the feed on your computer.
Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide what information you want to receive in with your reader, by finding and subscribing to the relevant RSS feeds. For example, if you want to subscribe to our Event Feeds, all you have to do is click on the link next to the
icon.
Once you have clicked the link you can copy and paste the URL (the web address at the top of the browser) into your news reader.
